The Game of Roulette
Roulette tables normally have place for six to eight players, each player has a different colour for the chips to make it easy for the dealer to track the bets. Playing Roulette is really easy you pick a number or field and place your bet on it, the dealer then spins the roulette wheel and places a ball inside the wheel and as the wheel stops the ball lands on a number and if the ball lands on your number or the field containing your number you win.
Roulette Table
There are two types of roulette tables. The American Roulette table that has 38 numbers including 0 (zero) and 00 (double zero) which increase the house advantage to 5.3%. And then there is the French or European roulette table has 37 numbers (missing the double zero), giving the house an advantage of 2.7%. Simply speaking you will loose your money twice as far playing American roulette as opposed to playing European roulette.
The Wheel
The numbers on the wheel does not appear to be organized they seem to be distributed pretty much randomly. The only obvious patterns are that red and black numbers alternate each other and also that usually two odd numbers alternate with two even numbers. However the distribution of numbers was carefully arranged so that the sum of the numbers for any given section of the wheel would be roughly equal to any other section of equal size. Most numbers are part of a pair, with one number between them. These pairs add to either 37 or 39.
Payout from a player selecting a single number and winning is 35:1, other betting options include; betting on multiple numbers, on all odd or even numbers, or by colour, however the payouts for these bets are considerably lower.
